Mark and Billy designed the crest several years ago. Our goal was to create a symbol for the family
to identify ourselves by and as a symbol of what we as a family represent.
The praying hands in the upper left quadrant signifies the faith that is the root of this family.
The family prays and believes in our Almighty God and this will always be the binding force that keeps us together.
The clasped hands in the upper right quadrant signifies the unity we share. This is a very close
knit family that has deep pride in being called "A Johnson". The love we feel for each other is boundless.
The cap and gown in the lower left quadrant signifies the scholarly achievements and commitment
to education within the family. Pursuit of a good education has been a priority within the family and many of our family members
have stressed this beyond the family by becoming teachers and other role players in the field of education.
The sneaker with wings in the fourth quadrant signifies the athletic achievement of much of the
family. Many of the family members played sports at one time or another, and have eventually moved into fields related to
sports such as coaching. (We even have a world record holder of a record that will never be broken).
The stars just represent the overall excellence of the family as a whole.
Billy and Mark took the initiative to create this based on the pride felt for the family. We hope
no one is offended or objects to our choices for how the shield was designed and we hope it finds acceptance with the family.
We also regret that we procrastinated and did not share this with the family before Grandmommie
passed onto heaven. But we feel confident she would have approved and believe she's looking down on this from heaven and saying,
"Well done."
